Beautiful Animals
I’ve never been able to have enough animals in my life. Throughout the years, I have loved so many creatures, furry, scaled and feathered. Poems have been written about this connection and inspired artwork has been created. Many people wear unique pet lover jewelry , but I don’t know how many of them are actually animal lovers. That is an indication of how animals are able to inspire artists to create designs in their image. And of course, you don’t have to be an all out animal lover to want to wear jewelry that depicts them.
Even as unlovable as a lizard (at least to some people) can become a beautiful pair of silver bearded dragon dangles . These are earrings that someone, even someone who is afraid of reptiles might wear. Why? Well, if you think about nature as a creation, you realize it is great art as well. If you’ve ever admired a lion at the zoo, or on a nature show, you will understand this for sure. It doesn’t mean you would want to have one in your back yard. In fact, most people would be terrified to be in the vicinity of one of those amazing wild beasts. But art depicting great cats has always been popular, going back centuries.
Many years ago I read a book by Tippi Hedren about her love of large cats. She has some property which is a preserve for these beautiful cats. Not only does she have lions and tigers, but also hybrids of the two big cats! I remember one photo in the book that was so remarkable and beautiful- like a surreal photo created in photo shop (it was taken before that time.) As I recall it was Tippi in the kitchen with a gigantic male lion leaping through the window beside her. She was washing the dishes and didn’t even look up!
One of my favorite forms of art includes the cave paintings by primitive people. These are some of the most aesthetic representations of the animal kingdom ever, and they continue to delight people thousands of years after those artistic ancestors of ours spread their colors on the cave walls.
If you’ve never tried your hand at your own animal art, I suggest you give it a try! Most people have some kind of animal in the family to model for them. And even if you don’t, there are lots of photographs of animals you can use for inspiration. Even a little poem about the bird outside your window, or a drawing of your new puppy could get you started.
